Honesty in TR?

Someone tweets: "Oatmeal is the most honestly named food. And scrapple."

And I am off --thinking of the oatmeal motif in The Recognitions and the 
evisceration
of advertising and its lies and all the characters' dishonest words and I ask:

Is oatmeal in TR as a kind of example of honesty?

And is this the thread to ask: What do we think Gaddis thinks MIGHT BE said 
without
being one of his satiric targets?...(I've been to some parties 
and.......yes......

I do not know what I would/could say that would spare me Gaddis' scorn. What 
think you?)
