Murakami's 1Q84 is an homage, of course,

to one of TRP's favorite and most inluential novels....
 
and 1Q84 begins with a curious music-created kinda Jungian memory, i.e.
not a real memory of the protagonist but a collective memory from the so-far omniscent narrator
 
of right around the time when Against the Day ends.................
 
And a sentence that might thematically describe part of AtD's ending..(the thematic undertow part not the grace)
