Yash, it seems to me, would be considering
what her step-father got for "selling" her to
TWIT. Surely they believed there was some
value to be had for taking her in. Her clit
was just a "spandrel"- a by-product of the
deal, and probably her mathematical
ability, as well. Although, that might be
a talent which could be turned into a profit,
even if more mundane than the promise
of some other, more magical forms of
power and control. What was her value
to them, real and/or imagined?

He probably promoted her to them for his
own benefit, in the same way as he
promoted himself to the decadent colonial
powers of the time- as a possible key to
the command and control of Shambala.

There did not seem to be any vertically
integrated systems in place then, ala
The Golden Fang, dealing in that sort of
thing. That would come later, with the
developement of technology and psycho-
active substances- so, free-lancing was
still possible. In that sense, the Jungian
reference is probably apt. Jung seemed to
traffic in that earlier type of transcendence.

Nice....So, Romance writer, in the literary sense, TRP,
has some scoundrel-like fun with Romance, using its
tropes but subverting its happy endings.....
 
One might even call it an internal self-metaphor for
his kind of Romance, yes?
