Music of the spheres NOT again as Prof Sleepcoat sez that perhaps Lydian music is gone forever: "that gap in the
musical continuum, that silence, is a first announcement of something terrible, of which this structural silence is only
an inoffensive metaphor."

The aforementioned Thomas Moore, neo-Jungian, who calls Pynchon fave James Hillman his most influential older
contemporary [in The Re-Enchantment of Everyday Life] wrote, when young, a paper on the music of the spheres
and psychotherapy. It was for a journal Hillman edited. He met Hillman for the first time after it was accepted
and Hillman's first words were: "You're right. Music. But no violins."     .........Moore goes on to write in this paragraph:

"In our very constitution we are musical, as is the world itself. If anything, the music we listen to is a metaphor for
human nature."

Just another dovetailing of notions by the Jungian-influenced. ?

That poison gas line which Cyprian wants to disable. I get echoic feelings of Slothrop and the bombs but here
as the coming of an inevitable future not an inevitable feeling of death
as Cyprian learns how hard it is to even admit of---the locals---or get rid of the Interdikt. Even "Bulgarian
crime" backed down.

Music of the spheres NOT again as Prof Sleepcoat sez that perhaps Lydian music is gone forever: "that gap in the

TRP writes WW1 in advance, in the atmosphere of the world.
