NP: find the hidden Pynchon reference in this comic

Yes, I know, I know it says "READ", but its covered and looks like "DEAD".

The penis would be the " 8 = D " equation.
Anyway I wasn't that serious about the Pynchon reference. I just put
together these elements and thought about Gravity's rainbow.

Look carefully at the size of the curve in the R - it's smaller than the curve of the D and the leg of the R is starting to show.   That's a very common sign in classrooms.
