reminds me of the philologist Friedrich Engels who remarked that the
German words for employer and employee, Arbeitgeber (literally: giver
of work) and Arbeitnehmer (taker of same) have it ass-backwards: the
one who gives his work is the one who takes money for it, and the one
who gives the money takes the work.
