That male disease, as bandwraith reminds: Pynchon knows that too(?) as he has violence play out
in the Traverse boys but nothing quite like that w/ the girls....
 
and overtly, p. 964 Reef's daughter, Ljubica laughs uproariously when she hears her first explosions
up in the mountains....Reef calls her "a dynamite baby" says she gets it from her grandpa,
"In the blood"...but within a few pages, and more real time in the fighting, the war, after we learn Ljubica can 
talk to dogs--the dog of the Chums' Girls---that has disappeared. She gets angry when a bomb goes off near her
"sure surprised us".......
 
Yashmeen's nurture overcame her 'nature"?

News you may know:
A gunman set his house on fire near Webster, NY, and shot the firefighters who responded with his
automatic,semi-automatic?,- the notorious Bushmaster AK--15. You may have read he left a note which said
he was getting ready to do "what I do best, kill people."
 
In this section of AtD, when the war is building, is in the air, ground and music, on p.965 we read:
"Among the Mauser on Mauser, something new on earth. Machine guns, the future of warfare."
 
Then we read shortly later, p.969, They had entered "a theatre of war" and "Reef entered the domain of five hundred rounds per minute"...."and whoever they'd been, they didn't seem to be there anymore".
 
Yashmeen murmured as if to Ljubica:
"What he does best, of course."
