Wow! So that Pynchon he sure is sharp; males are more violent than females,
females who use violence are often victims of violence, by their old men,
brothers, lovers....and, the more liberty women have and can exercise, the
less they resort to violence even when they live in poverty and are victims
of male violence, and, economic independence reduces both the abuse by men
of females and violence by females. Females should never be denied the
right to express anger, though males are often shocked when females express
anger, this surprise is, of course, a mild abuse by males, a method to keep
females from demonstrating their equality, their humanity, and thus proving
that while anger is a human emotion, violence need not follow.

Of course, all this is obvious enough, so maybe P isn't all that smart. Or
something ....
