AtD: Lew,a moral center

 Lew Basnight--[digression: we are to infer from the two times it is brought up
that Lew Basnight is his new name---having lost his original identity over whatever?] 
 
hat tip to Joseph T. re this lit thought: Lew's unknown 'sin'....homage, allusion, to 
Kafka, the Trial particularly?. 
 
Now Lew twice comes up against the question of anarchists killing innocent bourgeoisie..
he questions it both times, gets snarky, ironically superior responses and keeps on doing
what he does......even when mingling sympathetically with the downstairs anarchists, he
never seems to even tacitly approve any bombing of citizens---really we never learn of ANY
actions...certainly any he knows about....
