okay so I am taking this bait to say just that I would bet TRP is
referring to the Howard Dietz and Arthur Schwartz song "Dancing in the
Dark" (1931) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dancing_in_the_Dark_(Howard_Dietz_and_Arthur_Schwartz_song)

and not the Bruce Springsteen song "Dancing in the Dark" (1984)

in the book _Gravity's Rainbow_  (1973)
