Does Zinn, in his big book (PHUS), ever mention Agent Orange or Agent
Blue or defoliation? Don't think so. He does, however, provide a
glance at the protracted conflict and how people responded to it in
the US. Of course, Zinn has written about Agent Orange, but I don't
think it makes the cut in PHUS. Please correct me if I'm mistaken
about this. In any event, the book, a favorite of many Left-leaning
high school teachers and some professors of entry level US history
courses, does work like mental floss, pulling out the bad shit and bad
history between the white dentures in Uncle Sam's smile.

Mental Floss US HIstory and Who Built America, Zinn's comic book
version of PHUS, plus a real and decent book, like America: A
Narrative by Tindall and Shi is good stuff for students who might
struggle with history. Even the best students in the best schools in
the elect courses know little about America, so mental floss or Zinn,
the margins and cracks and gunk and tar focus is kinda a waste. Better
to get the kids to read Henry Adams or Melville. ;----)
