Don't tell me Pynchon is not a major influence

on a new book, browsed in at a library, in a city I am leaving and can't check it out of,
blurbed by Tom Robbins called BLUEPRINTS OF THE AFTERLIFE
which opening sentence is close to : 'The world is full of
some gorgeous garbage"........and has a character who, in the opening pages, 
is characterized as living off government checks, like Zoyd..........
 
and more, I'm sure.....
