Serendipiously, at a library, I learned that an historical
novelist, one Henry Treece, who I remember got good press, esp in the English papers,
 back in the 60s & 70s published 
 
"Westward to Vinland" in 1967, that good year. (Sot-Weed Factor among others). Small
US press...
 
In Which Eric the Red's son, Leif, founded a Viking colony on the southern coast of New England.
