Next we enter a seance conducted in some space of  SOE aka the Firm in which a medium seems to have entered the spirit of Roland Feldspath (expert, pg 241 Penguin)on control systems, guidance equations later to haunt Slothrop) who has " transected into the realm of Dominus Blicero, but Roland gets distracted from Blicero by lights moving as in dance and the particularly the  wind as a kind of ecstatic force he never knew. But calls out to his wife Serena ,who assures she is listening, talking about the difficulty of control and talking about replacing the invisible hand of the market  with self creating control, dispensing with God, then counters that this is only a more harmful illusion….
 seance is almost over as Jessica Swanlake throws dart hits exact center as rocket falls. All is recorded by Milton Gloaming trying to develop statistical analysis of psychic and other events. Jessica and Gloaming converse, he asks about Roger Mexico her lover who she says is with Pirate Prentice  we move to conversation between Prentice and Mexico ,find Mexico thinks the project with psychics is sinking into an imbecile  fascist ( ODD WORD,FASCIST BECAUSE IT IS INSPIRED BY NAZI INTEREST IN OCCULT?) mire. we find out about PISCES under the larger White Visitation. Pirate sees more concern with recently arrived Americans than Germany and war, thinks Mexico is being used in an indecent plot. we visit Prentice's memory of affair with Scorpia Mossmoon, now long over. PP longing for real love, friendship, hoping Jessica and R M stay together. RM recalls literally picking up Jessica on road where she is startled into car by rocket fall. ( lots of rocket /sex links). He tells her the war is his mother.  fast forward to present and another bomb and their shared sense that "..the Home Front is Something of a fiction and lie, designed, not too subtly, to draw them apart, to subvert love in favor of work, abstraction, required pain, bitter death."
They have a flat in a forbidden area filled with homey stuff: seashells, doll, chickens . (Very tender feelings for Pynchon around Jessica/ Mexico)

 enter scene in mind of dog being hunted by Pointsman in rubble near latest bomb site  RM and JS drive up,  they get net & stuff out of trunk to catch dog Jessica sympathizing with animal. P gets toilet bowl caught around leg . Mex goes toward dog with ether, dog speaks making joke  lots of fun but dog escapes Pointsman says maybe its a sign( funny phrase for a Pavolian)  hint that P wants humans to experiment with, maybe M.  They go to hospital of Dr K Spectro one of 7 owners of The Book? JS and RM Drop off P and drive away

Pointsman and Spectro (also a Pavlovian scientist) discuss P's desire to have access to Experiment with Slothrop as subject and we find that Slothrop is somehow predicting the location and time of the fall of the rockets with his map. Spectro says it can't be experimentally justified because there is just one subject. They wonder how Slothrop's predictive ability works comparing phenom to  the arrival of a rocket first,  and then the rocket sound. We find S was also patient of Laszlo Jamf.
The "hospital' takes in children apparently survivors of bomb blasts etc. Some odd "therapy" is hinted at, possibly shock therapy. It is said that a thousand children are about to leave( alive?, where?)h
"hospital" carries a dominant sense of misery, sounds of wailing.  
ANYONE WITH GREATER CLARITY ON THE CHILDREN, OR HISTORIC REFERENCE?

Jessica wakes out of dream of girls being gathered ( like pointsman's dogs)and wailing piteously( a few times an event or dream at the end of one chapter connects to a dream, psychic phenom or event at the beginning of next.)   She wants to be safer, Mexico is statistician and his stats say there is no safer place,  no concentration, the rocket hits are random. Pavlovians see mental phenomena as digital, on off. Mexoico is between on off in realm of probability.  Pointsman hates this; wants causality, connection. PP calls probability approach "cheap nihilism". Reverie comparing peace to war, memories of peacetime thus showing the internal devastation  and scarring of war experience. M & J start to tickle each other when bomb drops.
