Are you talking about The Original of Laura?  I checked it out from the library for awhile.  What I got was bound pages of photocopied index cards with, if I remember correctly,  a bit of editor (Dmitri?) notes between them.  Did Dmitri do anything more with it?  I'm sure there was a prologue or something as well but memory is not serving today.
