down in Against the Day, in my reading. 

(analogy: my criticism of Pynchon is drawn from my limited reading and
experience and, well, it's pretty clear where I'm going here...)

on a different note ---
I like the phrase you sometimes see or hear, "the Godhead" -- where'd
that come from anyway...

"the Godhead" it's a jolly term, and one I think deserves a wider currency...

it would be cool if some of the zillion references to deity we will
hear during elections season would be couched therein

Obama could be like "and I believe *the Godhead* will watch over America"

...one nation under *the Godhead*...
