Yes, without precisely defined terms, it is impossible to communicate
effectively, and at the same time, limiting oneself to the precise
definitions of words may keep the boundaries of understanding from
stretching.
I remember the first time a musician friend told me that a mutual friend
"had his jaws tight" with him about something. That might not apply
precisely to the discussion at hand, but it made me think about something
in a completely different way.
