A demolition man is a man who oversees a blasting operation, a
trembler a contact breaker with its tongue "poised between its two
fatal contacts". The whole paragraph is about what you see and what it
could mean: the name of the tin the name of the hero of Venus in Furs,
the spoon the trembler-tongue, "a repetition high and low of some
prevailing form".
