I get that.(though  can deal with alot less of elvis costello type
cameos and more of the ones i never heard of)

I think Inherent Vice exhibited something similar--folks like Robin
were quite enthused that he got alot of local color and details right.
In Treme's case, i have no beef with that except for the tendency at
least in the first season to constantly harp on the fact of how
superior or unique New Orleans is. Hey, I love the place, too. I just
didnt need reminding every 10 minutes ;)
and yes I do love the theme song, too
