if she's anything like me, she probably has a slew of non-aligned
desires at any given moment...sometimes when the universe is being
particularly non-supportive, a lot of mine line up in favor of
Hamlet's quietus...she probably has counter-impulses such as emanate
from her enjoyment of your friendship and of her dogs and so
forth...in my case there's also a strong strain of cussedness that
intervenes against giving up, when the prognosis starts to shape up as
negative --- most people who survive a goodly number of years have
something serving that purpose, wouldn't you say?
