Pynchonesque strange history and a request for research help

Those look interesting and I spend a couple-fortyfive minutes looking
through various web resources, no luck. My only idea is to find a
historical database for The Tatler (I assume you mean the British glossy,
right?) and one for the NYTBR; I know the former exist, I just don't have
access. Haven't seen tell of one for the NYTBR.
