OK, let's forget that ARPANET started in 1969 and TCP/IP in 1975. I'll
ignore my early-1980s memories of using NEXIS and starting to spend a
buttload of time on CompuServe. Let's say "the internet" sensu ampliore,
reaching beyond a nerd subculture, began with the Mosaic and Netscape
browsers circa 1994. That's seven years before the time in which BE is set,
which in turn is twelve years ago.
How is it that this lives in thy mind, Dan Franklin? What seest thou else in
the dark backward and abysm of time?
