VL bush-vet

[alice wellintown]

The term was used to describe soldiers during the SE Asian conflict,
soldier who went native to various degrees, in country, then in the States
as the examples in the articles I linked show. Slothrop and Morrison's
Shadrack (Sula) are, invisible men, bush vets, one, ostensibly of the First
World War, one of he second, both, like the characters in Mash, vietnam
bush vets. So, the term has more than one inter-twined meaning. The context
here, in VL, is quite complex, but makes sense since I-24, like Praire, is
living in fragments of he reel / real.
