It's Pynchon's world, even DeLillo pays homage

with iron in thw curves he could almost taste...where he kept a watch for sewer rats....and 'he was riding
just to ride"...and ends on second page...with 'nothing important out there he could not find-----after we 
get a list of preterite types---'in purer form in these tunnels under these streets'...
