Agreed.
Which meaning of "crackle" is intended here?
1. to make slight, sudden, sharp noises, rapidly repeated.
2. to form a network <http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/network> of
fine cracks <http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/crack> on the surface.
I went with 2 since it seems to make more sense, and easier to translate,
but some may not agree.
