Off the top of my head Joseph O'Neill's books Netherland and Blood Dark Track are pretty damn good. The two Hilary Mantel books about Henry viii are really good. The Pale King; Rick Atkinson's trilogy about WWII; Master of the Senate and The Passage of Power. I'll think of more.

So what are the best books of the 21st century, thus far?
TheTrinny ghost rider in BE, reminds me of one of my favorites, a 9-11
book that blows the doors off BE.
