Hmm there is a special place in Pynchon for the fullness/tension/depletion
of Bowels, and this may be another, tho more Peculiar, turning of that
image...?
 that planted, after a meal, and it's Turning over upon contemplating a
Larger Topic.
I like Bled's idea that it's a really good fart, however far-fetched, it
does seem to be some sort of ornament, medal (I can't think of any medals
that would be pinn'd to the belly tho?), probably a belt-buckle/utilitybelt?
