I, too, read it when it was just out and found much to be in awe about re her linguistic achievement. But,like Paul M. and Bekah, little stuck. As some say about Nabokov---an obvious comparison---too much cleverness not enough insight or even mannered "life".....and modeled 
After the plot of THE SECRET HISTORY....

The novel does need a wiki....just for intellectual pleasure.
