Was not going to post this misc. on paranoia, too misc. recently read, but "It's All Right, Ma, I'm Only Bledding".
It did seem to me tangentially relevant to early GR---but I'm 'paramoically touched' that way, we know--and is Of the time. 1962.
The essay is called "Paranoia and the Dynamics of Exclusion" by one Edwin Lemert, a SOCIOLOGIST" hence the not-psychological perspective. ( in the editor's intro, he says psychologists focus on the ' skin-bound organism' !, unlike sociologists)
Précis: paranoids are individuals who have undergone a change of status that is intolerable to them. (Not often something pathological, which was prevailing shrink notion) This status change then leads them to react to others in ways that others cannot accept.
They then become objects of suspicion since group values are threatened. With suspicion comes fear ( from group members). Since significant others from the group are uneasy, they subtly or otherwise, isolate and reject the individual.
The individual now feels a discrepancy between his self-definition and his societal acceptance.
the individual now has difficulty presenting his " self" to others. Others perceive his ' falseness'
and distrust him more and more. They interact less and his interactions do not have the outcome he wants.
so, the individual distrusts (the others) back. self-fulfilling wheel of fortune, so to speak.
a sociological fact that I turn 'round to little effect but which this above might cover is the
Movement of paranoia from the Left to the Right from the sixties in these unfurled United States....

Is it, well this goes to power, I was initially trying for something more lofty, loftier, is paranoia a thought that which the power of society does not officially acknowledge?

Ferment. Torment. What's the term. Investigated. I am being very, Siriusly, watched. Something, is attempting to control, my mind. And actions. Plato, Aristotle, knew this. Where did Plato get his sources.....from? It takes no brain, to understand this. None. To figure out what the Giza plateau is.

>> I got his postcard, litrally a postcard, hand adreesed and signed by the sherrif, informing me that there is a warrant for my arrest in his county. Okay, the thing about this is, I don't even, have never heard, of this county.
>>
>> What is this, Friday, or Saturnday? Anyway, the postcard, fair enough, I think it actually arrived Thursday, maybe even WEsday, I don't normly pick up the mail, and when I do I don't particullrly pay attention to it, and so if something striking occurs, it's, goes through, the hands of this old woman who claims to be my mother. Of course she's my mother. Who was my father, that's the question. The postcard said that I have to call that county office before then, and that the warrant will be prosucted on the first on March.
>>
>> Anyway, I'm on parole, and I don't even know what county this is coming from. It's somewhere in Kansas. I grew up in a very nice suburb of Kansas City, but my suburb is on the Kansas side. I lived my adult life in SF, LA, and NYC, all of which I love, and I have zero interest in being back in Central City with my mother. Zilch.
>>
>> The maybe humus side is that, since I've been back to Central City, I've been either in jail or on parole. When you're on parole....you can't leave the city. My family all went to Vegas for Christmas....I had to stay here, alone.
>>
>> That last couple paragraphs sounded pathetic. I don't want empathy. I could use some, but that wasn't the point. Since anyone who pays any attention to my notes on this thing, I means reads them, knows my opinions of who we are as homo sapiens, where we come from, what actually occurred in history, etc., that wasn't the meaning of this note.
>>
>> Well, in a way, maybe. The Annunaki, of Sumerian lore, after the bigtime gods, they had, curiously enough, 50, subgods. And those They were called....the Watchers.
>>
>> Or were the Sumerian writers and intellectuals just....really paranoid?
