Not all of Oates' books are bad. She's been considered for the Man Booker International and a Nobel and won a bunch of lesser awards. Her book Blonde (historical fiction about Marilyn Monroe) was a finalist for the Pulitzer back in 2001. I've read only 2 or 3 and I wasn't too impressed. I would kind of like to read Blonde. She says she just has more stories to tell.
I probably shouldn't have put that sig line on there - that was kind of rude - unnecessary.
