The biography of Erich Fromm I am browsing in tells me that Fromm, too,
warned of the strength and possible triumph of the death instinct back in the day, from his absorption of Freud,
most strongly in a 3-page epilogue to The Crisis of Psychoanalysis published
in 1970, "believing as he did that war was a function of the aggressions built into the
nation-state."
Writer reminds that social critic/anarchist Paul Goodman and biologist Paul Ehrlich issued
similar warnings.
