NP but sadomasochism. GR-relevant?

seems Erich Fromm used H. Himmler as his extended example for
analysis of sadomasochism in society in Escape From Freedom, 1941 and
reworked and used again in Anatomy of Human Destructiveness and added
an extended analysis of Hitler. 70s
 
Fromm, as has been argued about Pynchon, drew on Arendt's Origins of Totalitarianism
for the latter book. "Fromm argued that the sadistic aspect of the authoritarian character
type and the necrophiliac character type operated in tandem, forming a partnership 
between the two most evil potentialities of the human condition."
 
Escape from Freedom drew on Weber and Tawny and others on Protestantism as character creation 
in the West.
