Just throwing this out there, but:
In baseball, to "go deep" is to hit a home run--essentially send the ball to where it cannot be recovered.
If you play in the outfield, your role is to catch / stop / pull-back what would otherwise have "gone deep."
Also, just the idea of something, say information, being "out" (-side) of a given "field"--hidden.
Good name.
