GR translation: under the tanks snailing whitely to heaven

This passage is being told by Christian who seems to be having a
psychedelic trip or psychotic perspective, seeing a Moss Creature, a Water
Giant, and thousands of pygmies. And a mountain has just appeared. The
tanks are at a gas refinery. They must be arranged in long rows heading
uphill, toward heaven. "Snailing" is not an English word, but a poetic
one. Snails move slowly, leaving trails. "Trails" are something one sees
during an acid trip: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QJeysC17PyI
So I would translate it all as literally as possible.
