GR translation: under the tanks snailing whitely to heaven

Snailing is an English verb.  It has several meanings. Check your OED.

 Not sure what the phrase, "snailing whitely to heaven" means, but it
might mean moving slothfully. sluggishly, snailishly or it might mean
moving in a spiral form, then add the whitely, the adv. as David
Morris describes it.
