the reference.
An Australian friend of mine recently messaged me saying he will be in
NY for the premiere of Inherent Vice. He had never heard of Pynchon
until a few years ago I pressed a copy of IV into his chest and said
'this one's for you'. Now that images from the film are coming out his
workmates are asking if Sportello is based on him.
