Hoping to see it on Sunday. Going in with low expectations, so I hope to be pleasantly surprised. I can barely remember the book (other than not liking it very much), so I'll be taking the movie at face value.

I enjoyed the book more than the average book but it's def my least favorite Pynchon. I read it as my second P novel after Against the Day which imo is about ten times as great as IV. Haven't seen the film yet, had high hopes but the clips and trailers I've seen so far kind of made me cringe a little, and some of the dialogue was direct from the novel. I suppose that's a natural reaction for about half the Pynchon fans who will or have seen the movie. I will watch it but I don't think it will be as awesome as I initially imagined. Whatevz, still cool to have Pynchon on film, and done by a director I like as well.
My speculation is that most Pynchon fans will be indifferent about it but will still see it. I don't consider it a letdown and I'm guessing plenty of people will love it. Heck, maybe I will too.

Just saw the film in Manhattan tonight. I enjoyed it..not phenomenal, won't be establishing residency in my head to be mulled over for months, but I appreciated the tone and atmosphere and hearing some of Pynchon's language delivered by a strong cast. Plenty of smiles and laughs along the way.
That said, I.V. was one of two Pynchon novels I really didn't care for, so I'll be interested to hear from those of you who were more partial to the book itself.

Excellent. I've been mostly hanging to read some initial thoughts by someone who's a P-fan and this hits the spot.

Although I'm deeply disappointed by the section that notes how almost none of the extensive list of tracks included in the novel make it into the film. And I love the link to this Fapadokly track, partly because the album cover alone makes me think of the film IV could be.
