I enjoyed the book more than the average book but it's def my least
favorite Pynchon. I read it as my second P novel after Against the Day
which imo is about ten times as great as IV. Haven't seen the film yet, had
high hopes but the clips and trailers I've seen so far kind of made me
cringe a little, and some of the dialogue was direct from the novel. I
suppose that's a natural reaction for about half the Pynchon fans who will
or have seen the movie. I will watch it but I don't think it will be as
awesome as I initially imagined. Whatevz, still cool to have Pynchon on
film, and done by a director I like as well.
My speculation is that most Pynchon fans will be indifferent about it but
will still see it. I don't consider it a letdown and I'm guessing plenty of
people will love it. Heck, maybe I will too.
