'Inherent Vice' misses the yearning and despair inside noirish shenanigans

The book is a bad idea. Why make a film of it? It has to be the
dumbest book Pynchon ever came up with. The protagonist doesn't work.
He's not fun, interesting, odd, he doesn't have cool or wonderful
friends or enemies, well maybe that Big Foot is not bad, and his
adventures are lame. The use of films is so lame is makes one gag.
