Yet another take on True Detective

What is it that has warped critical readings, viewings of mass produced
art? Even those who share the values of Emily Nussbaum, the so
sophisticated crowd that still reads the New Yorker like a secular Bible,
can't expect TD to pass test, earn a degree, bow down to the academics.
Right? Gee, it's TV. Doesn't Woody have a new flick in the theaters? Pick
on him. He deserves it. He's been flicking his snot on academics for
decades. TD is just more junk TV. Chew it and swallow, or watch something
else. There are strong characters to satisfy everyone on the Tube, they
don't need to be on every program. Or must every show do what McDonalds
does and represent, or like some smart politician, work the crowd, kiss the
ugly baby.
