He's a very Slothropian character, almost unheard of in Hollywood -
his journey isn't that of the hero's but the opposite. We're spending
two hours with a musician who doesn't become a legend, or even an
unappreciated genius, or even a big fat loser. Instead he quietly
disintegrates into the preterite twilight.
