deliberately crashed into the Capitol... and the Cessna that an unhappy
trucker flew into the White House in 1994...

I'd call that recycling/recombination/enactment of story elements "what
humans do" rather than a phenomenon of any particular time. FWIW, to Attic
Greeks _mythos_ meant simply "story," whether "Athena and Aphrodite did X"
or "I saw a guy in the Agora today and he..." We've loaded "myth" with lots
of other denotations and connotations, but it's always helpful to get back
to plain old "story."
