Improbably, Pynchon's 'Inherent Vice' translates well to the screen

Yea, I can agree with this review. And as it mentions, Anderson, of necessity I suppose, did leave out significant portions of the text. Which, in itself, will be a fascinating area of discussion for classes in film theory. And goodness, what a gift for academics teaching a combined lit/film course, discussing just that. But he did not leave out the political. He did a good job there.

And Anderson has broken through the myth that Pynchon cannot be brought to the screen- by itself a huge accomplishment. The elephant in the room, however, which seems not to have been noticed thus far, is that M&D would be perfect for the screen- the small screen- as a series. It is already written as a series, and could extend over multiple seasons. That might get me watching tv again.
