NP - One sentence that shows how badly America failed in Afghanistan

The first article from the Atlantic outlines the failure, or rather the
tragedy of American soldiers. It is typical in its claim that soldiers
didn't fail us, we failed them. But failure is the theme.

It's crap.

The second is an imagined history and faulty comparison that is so common
these days because it sells books and articles and allows, even some very
good writers, journalists and others who know war, who have lived it,
people like Hedges, to hide behind a fantasy and a false comparison to vent
their anger and guilt.

It too is crap.
