kick off the Mardi Gras  <http://www.nola.com/mardigras>season Tuesday
night (Jan. 6), with a traditional parade aboard the St. Charles Avenue
streetcar.

At 6:30 p.m., the Phellows, along with the Storyville Stompers and a
generous booty of beads, Champagne and king cake, board the St. Charles
Avenue streetcar at the Willow Street car barn near South Carrollton
Avenue. Revelers often show up early to watch the Phellows climb aboard and
cheer as the Krewe of Oak toasts the Phellows.

The ride starts at 7 p.m., as the krewe cuts a ceremonial ribbon to kick
off Carnival season.
