Another resonance to setting the telling of the story in 1786. This
law, Jefferson's work mostly, became the basis of the Constitutional
law of separation.

if one aspect of your novel is to delineate Enlightenment science
drawing a Line in a new world
full of various religious creeds and a cultural religious worldview,
this legal line matters for democracy, to state the banal.

Yet, in these United States in 2015 it is still not fully in
effect--at the highest levels.
