P 6 again--I do not think I communicated a (very tenuous ) possible
allusion or association on
page 6, in "this Den of Parlor-Apes'  line about the Mirror (hanging
on the Wall)  "for its Remembrance of a Time better Forgotten,
reflecting most of the Room."

Here's the way-out speculation. Re Ape...Wyndham Lewis's, a(nother)
scathing satirist, savage as the adjective goes, most ambitious novel
is THE APES OF GOD....in which part of his ambition was
to write a more savage satire than he perceived Remembrance of Things
Past's satire to be....

I really don't think TRP was alluding but stranger things, etc.
