I am just listening to "Divided and United", a collection of songs from 
the Civil War performed by contemporary artists (among those I am more 
or less familiar with are Steve Earle, John Henry, T Bone Burnett, Taj 
Mahal, Chris Hillman, Loretta Lynn, Ralph Stanley, Cowboy Jack Clement). 
Choice cuts (to quote Robert Christgau) so far: "Tenting on the Old 
Campground" (which eventually turns into "dying tonight on the old 
campground"), "The Faded Coat of Blue" and "Hard Times."
