Not much (or any I can think of, really) overlap between M&D and the other two. But it's interesting to think about how the private eye genre might have been floating around between ATD and VL. ATD ends with Lew Archer [link to Deep Archer?] as the hard-boiled LA detective. Was IV possibly spawned at this time, as private eye material that he decided not to incorporate into VL?
