Agree with most of what you say, but for the record, I think the kerfuffle
over the rebel flag is being yanked and tugged in some very
counterproductive directions.

Take it down from government buildings, yes, by all means. It's ridiculous
that it's flown there in the first place.

However, if anybody wants to fly it outside their homes, or get it
tattooed, or wear it on a T-shirt, or paint it on top of their shitty
muscle car... GO FOR IT! I try to base my opinion of what people are like
based on how they treat me face to face, in a one on one situation... NOT
by what's on their t-shirts.

It's not "a racist symbol". It's a symbol with some racist connotations
(and some not). Hell, there probably is not a single national flag in
existence that would pass any marginally clever contrarian's ethical purity
test. Infinitely more blood has been shed in the name of the Union Jack.
